M1 Junction 10 to 13 Improvement

The Hard Shoulder Running scheme has been designed to alleviate congestion on the 15-mile (25km) stretch of the M1, between junctions 10 and 13. Originally a widening scheme, it has been redesigned as a managed motorway, negating the need for additional lanes and using the hard shoulder as a running lane when traffic demand requires it.

BCL completed all FRC works within the scheme including gantry bases, capping beams, parapets, viaducts, underpass and the overbridge at Jct 12. This was a complicated programme phased North and South bound into three sections with an overall round trip of 30 miles through the live site.
